Artist Feature: Casey Carriere
We were immediately drawn to the emotion and the sense of movement and transformation in Casey Carriere's work. We use her artwork in many of the positive sayings and affirmations that we post on social media. We caught up with this modern artist from Elora, Ontario, Canada to learn more about her work.
Casey, when we first saw your work we were in awe! It’s gorgeous and really has a sense of depth and movement to it. Can you tell us how they are made?
I use apoxy resin tinted with acrylics, oils, inks and pigments to create my work. The resin is manipulated and made beautiful with fire – my chosen paintbrush!
The results are stunning! What’s your process like for creating your artwork?
I embrace the flow! The colours are controllable only to a point. I mix. I layer. I drip. I dribble. And then I use the flame to further refine the work. I often find that I end up with a very very different painting from the one I conceptualise when I first start. The process of creating has become a beautiful and meditative dance for me; one that weaves me peacefully through the tension to a soft release. The creation process helps me better embrace the flow of my life.
That sounds so therapeutic! Embracing the flow and unpredictability is something we all struggle with at times. What drew you to creating art?
Art has always been a passion of mine but it’s only been in the last few years that I have been embraced it at a profession level. It’s been a really healing process for me and a great form of expression.
I think the energy and emotions really resonate in the finished product. What do you think your artwork being matched with Aura affirmations?
I think it’s a perfect match! Affirmations or mantras can be such a great tool for positive transformation and healing.
